Blint Logo

A practice management solution for accountants, featuring client portals, automated emails, e-signatures, and workflow management.

The Challenge

Engager.app, a startup competing against established brands like Bright Manager, Sage, QuickBooks, and Xero, needed to position itself as a forward-thinking, cost-effective tool for accountants and bookkeepers. The challenge was to create excitement and buzz around the brand and product to attract more and bigger clients from their existing tools to Engager.app. The branding needed an overhaul to come across as an authoritative figure in the industry, and the communication had to be clear on what the product could do and who it was aimed at.

Strategy & Discovery

Having been introduced to Andy and the team at Engager.app (formerly known as Engager.app), we spent several weeks understanding the product through demos, walkthroughs, and weekly meetings. This comprehensive understanding allowed us to tackle the major pain points first. The project was approached in phases, starting with increasing content and information on the feature pages to communicate the solution’s benefits effectively. We iterated on graphics to extend the existing brand, learning what resonated with end users. This iterative process led to a full rebrand, including a refreshed logo, updated colour scheme, and a comprehensive brand guidelines document. A new website was designed and developed, addressing mobile issues and ensuring cleaner design, consistent typography, and unique graphical backgrounds and gradients, used across printed stationery, email marketing, and social media.

Branding

The rebranding process involved an in-depth understanding of the brand, industry, and competition. The new brand pays homage to the old logo while being built on an isometric grid with consistent custom corners. This also included developing a refined colour palette for consistency. The logo was designed to be balanced and precise, reflecting the meticulous nature of bookkeepers and accountants. It was important for the logo to work well in black and white first, establishing fundamental design principles. The colour palette was tweaked for harmony, and the Poppins font, already in use, was assigned clear hierarchical structures to improve communication. The word mark was updated to Poppins with modified corner treatment to match the icon mark.

Print Design

Engager.app is developing an upcoming merch line for events and end users, including t-shirts, hoodies, mugs, hats, and more. Event stands, backdrops, table stands, leaflets, and business cards are also in development for upcoming events.

Social Media

The primary goal of the social media campaign was to engage with the highly active Engager community on Facebook and LinkedIn. We collaborated with MNArts to create unique videos for each feature and a general showcase of the software, highlighting the pain points it solves. Weekly review showcases, webinar announcements, and new feature announcements were also part of the content strategy. The visuals were kept consistent with the background textures, typography, and colour matching the website, combining static and motion posts to compete with larger competitors.

Web Design

Utilising videos created by MNArts, the website included videos and animated GIF snippets. These multimedia elements contributed to a competitive user journey and brand connection by providing a dynamic mix of static and motion posts. The lightweight and responsive nature of the website ensured accessibility and easy navigation on both desktop and mobile devices, essential for new users and referrals.

Web Development

The website was rebuilt on a fresh installation of WordPress using Elementor. Custom HTML, CSS, and JavaScript were employed to achieve features not available out of the box, minimising the number of plugins for a lightweight and fast website on all devices. All images were converted to WEBP files to reduce image size. The responsive design and interactive features ensured a consistent, high-quality user experience, reflecting the product’s quality. Collaboration involved working with the client 2-4 days a week, with several calls each day to maintain alignment, using Kanban cards to prioritise tasks and maintain momentum.

Final Details

The project is ongoing, with continuous improvements and adaptations for even better and brighter futures. The client is constantly adding features and updates to the software, ensuring ongoing development and design work. Engager.app’s client base continues to grow, benefiting from the robust web presence and comprehensive rebranding initiatives.
